In most businesses in Oman, the ideal time attendance machine isn't the mere terminal, but the terminal together with the report that HR can utilize. Check the face, fingerprint, card, code options for staff size, location, ability to export to Excel, and if integration with a payroll or HRMS system is required.
Begin at the entry/exit points of the workplace. Near the main door, typically there is a face / fingerprint or card machine that is required for the offices. A more powerful machine, correct installation site and reports HR can use are needed with warehouses, factories and outdoor sites.
If you are still comparing the entire setup then be sure to check the terminal requirement, software and reporting needs before choosing just the machine.
Want to list more than just devices? The complete biometric attendance system Oman guide gives you the information you need about the terminal that is appropriate for your business size, the free software included in the terminal, and deployment details to make your purchase informed.
Also look at factory attendance systems and multi-branch attendance systems for factory/branch operations.
Face attendance is faster for busy entrances. Fingerprint attendance is common for offices and smaller teams. Card and code options are useful when the same device is also connected with access control or when some staff cannot use fingerprint reliably.
For more focused comparisons, see face recognition attendance and fingerprint attendance.
The selection of finger to register to a fingerprint machine for attendance is heavily dependent on where the finger is not affected much by daily work. This finger will be clean, easy to fit on the scanner, not be scratched, rough, oily or worn.
Generally, the thumb is a great choice – strong, easy to position and not as affected by fine work as the index or middle fingers. This may be helpful for both left and right-handed employees.
Fingernails can make fingerprint scanning more difficult for women workers, particularly if the finger is not able to be placed flat against the sensor. If so, it's best to take a finger from the hand with shorter nails or get a second backup one if the device allows.
The device is only useful if the report matches your HR process. Before buying, confirm whether you need Excel export, shift reports, late-in and early-out reports, payroll support, branch-wise reports or HRMS integration.
If reporting is the main issue, see our attendance management software page.
Tell us which device you are comparing, your staff count and where it will be installed. We will recommend the right attendance machine and setup.
