Choose the Access Control System You Need
Decide on the number of entrances and which type to control. A small business will most likely require a single controlled office door. Larger sites may need multiple doors, central software, entry schedules and detailed records.
One Office Door
A complete single-door system typically consists of an access control reader, electric lock, exit button, power supply with backup battery, cabling, installation and user setup.
This option is suitable for office entrances, server rooms, finance rooms, clinics, shops and small warehouses.
Multiple doors may be controlled by a single system. Staff may be granted access to certain doors at certain times, while administrators can add users, deny access and view entry logs from central software.
This option is recommended for larger offices, factories, warehouses, schools, clinics and restricted departments within a business.
Many face and fingerprint terminals can record staff attendance and open a door using the same device. This can save the business money on equipment and provide one system for entry and attendance reports.
Not all door readers are attendance machines, and not all attendance machines should be connected to a lock. Before quoting, TAOMAN verifies the exact capability of every model.
Final pricing depends on the number of doors, type of reader, lock, door material, cable route, software and integration needs. The following figures are estimates only and not a final quotation.

Device Price Versus Installed Price
Some attendance and access control machines start from around 40 OMR when bought as a device only. This does not necessarily mean a complete controlled door costs 40 OMR.
The installed price must include the correct lock, exit hardware, power, brackets, cables and labour.
An office access control system uses face recognition, fingerprints, cards or PIN numbers instead of an unsecured key. The business determines who is allowed in, which doors they can use and when their access should work.
Most offices start with the main entrance, followed by other spaces such as server rooms, finance rooms, management offices, stock rooms and document storage rooms.
Main Office Entrance
Face, fingerprint, card or PIN can be used to access the main office entrance. Visitors can still enter through reception or receive temporary access when necessary.
Restricted Internal Rooms
Only authorised employees can enter sensitive internal rooms. Access may be revoked immediately when an employee leaves the company or moves to a different department.
Entry Records and Schedules
The system can be set up to log who enters, which door they use and the time. Larger systems can also apply schedules, such as allowing cleaners access only during assigned hours.
One Office or Multiple Locations
A standalone reader can be used in a small office. A company with several doors, floors, offices or branches may require central software and connected controllers.
How a Door Access Control System Works
The person presents a credential. The credential can be a face, fingerprint, access card or PIN.
The system checks permission. It determines whether that person is allowed to use the entrance at that time.
The door opens or stays locked.Access is granted to approved users and rejected for unauthorised users.
The event is recorded. If logging is enabled, the user, door, date and time are stored in the system.
Core Parts of the System
Entry Reader
Verifies the user’s face, fingerprint, card or PIN number.
Electric Lock
Secures the door and unlocks it once valid access has been confirmed.
Exit Button
Allows people inside the premises to leave without presenting a credential.
Power Supply and Battery
Provides stable power and temporary battery backup during a power outage.
Software or Controller
Controls users, doors, schedules and reports when the project calls for central control.
Face, Fingerprint, Card or PIN Access?
Face Recognition Access Control
Face recognition is contactless and quick. It can be used at busy entrances, offices, factories and locations where users’ hands may be dirty or gloved.
Fingerprint Access Control
Fingerprint access is inexpensive and common in indoor offices. It works best where users’ fingerprints are clean and the device is protected from harsh outdoor conditions.
Card Access Control
Cards can easily be issued to staff, visitors and contractors. If a card is lost, it can be cancelled without changing the lock or affecting other users.
PIN Access Control
PIN access may be used alone or as a backup method. Higher-security systems may require both a card and a PIN.
Some access control devices support several methods. TAOMAN recommends the entry method based on the users, installation environment, security requirements and budget.
One device, two functions
Can One Machine Manage Attendance and Door Access?
Many face and fingerprint terminals can simultaneously record employee attendance and control a door. The device can unlock the door and record attendance when an authorised employee enters.
This is helpful for offices that want to use one device for employee entry and attendance reporting. The complete setup still requires the correct lock, exit button, power supply, brackets and installation.
Choose Attendance and Access Together When:
The same staff use the controlled entrance each day
You need attendance records and access reports
You want face, fingerprint, card or PIN identification
You want one device instead of separate attendance and access readers
Choose Dedicated Access Control When:
You need more than one controlled door
Different departments require different access rights
You need central software, live events or advanced schedules
You are adding turnstiles, gates, lifts, CCTV or alarms
You need enterprise-level controllers and secure credentials
Only products confirmed to support door access are shown here. The device-only price is clearly distinguished from the complete installed cost and excludes the lock, exit button, power supply, brackets, cables and installation.

The reader is just one component of the installation. The lock and brackets should match the door material, frame and opening direction.
Glass Doors
Frameless glass doors typically need matching glass-door brackets and a lock that can be attached without causing damage. A site check or clear door photos must be provided before quotation.
Wooden Doors
An electric strike, magnetic lock or another suitable electric lock may be used on wooden doors, depending on the frame, latch and required security level.
Metal and Aluminium Doors
The brackets, cable route and lock position must be correct for metal and aluminium doors. Before installation, the installer must verify the door frame and opening direction.
TAOMAN provides access control products from ZKTeco, Hikvision, Suprema, Virdi and HID. The right brand depends on the number of users, number of doors, preferred identification method, software needs, integration requirements and budget.
ZKTecoAffordable face, fingerprint and card solutions for small and medium-sized businesses
HikvisionAccess control devices that can suit locations already using Hikvision security solutions
SupremaPremium readers and software for larger or higher-security projects

What is the price of an access control system in Oman?
A complete single-door access control system typically ranges from 150 to 400 OMR, including the reader, suitable lock, exit button, power supply, cables and installation. The final price varies depending on the door and equipment used.
Can an attendance machine also operate an office door?
Many face and fingerprint attendance machines can also control a door, but this capability must be verified for the specific model. A complete installation also requires a lock, exit button, power supply, brackets and cables.
Do I need access control software?
A standalone reader may be enough for one small office door. Software is helpful when there are multiple doors, you need to manage users from a central point, you want schedules or you require detailed entry reports.
Face, fingerprint, card or PIN—which is the best option?
Face recognition is contactless and fast. Fingerprint is affordable for clean indoor offices. Cards are simple to issue and cancel. A PIN may be used alone or with another method. The best choice depends on the users, environment and security requirements.
Can access control be fitted to a glass door?
Glass doors require a suitable lock and brackets selected according to the glass, frame and opening direction. Send well-lit, clear photos of both sides of the door for a preliminary review.
Do you install access control systems outside Muscat?
TAOMAN supplies and installs access control systems in Muscat and other parts of Oman. Travel and installation requirements are confirmed in the quotation.
How long does installation take?
A straightforward single-door installation can often be completed within the same working day. Multi-door systems and projects with longer cable runs, controllers or integrations take longer.
Can access control be linked to attendance or CCTV?
This depends on the hardware and software selected. Some devices can manage attendance and door access simultaneously. Larger systems can also connect to CCTV, alarms, turnstiles, gates or lift controls.
